Springtime!

It is springtime, and this, of course, means hats! Abby is so much fun to dress up because she's not bothered a bit by hats, and always laughs when I put them on her. (She's a girl, come on, I have to have fun while she'll let me dress her, before she goes goth or something and won't wear anything but black!) The weather is beautiful in Montgomery, and we already have garlic, onions, and lettuce growing (along with the herbs from last year), and plan on getting tomatoes, peppers, squash, and watermelon in the ground soon!
"...must... put... toy... in... mouth..."

Daddy's Little Girl

Well, what can I say? It's true. She's a daddy's girl. She will only wave to him (her most recently acquired party trick), and when he comes in the door, her smile widens with excitement. When I come in the door, she looks at me, and then looks around, like "and....?" As her name means, she is "her father's joy" as well.

Even though she has been a fountain of snot this past week from a little cold (every time she sneezed, she projectiled two heat-sensing snot torpedoes that seemed aimed at the nearest warm body, of course, me), she still grabs my heart looking up at me and smiling through the goobies and snot hanging off her face.

6 years coming...

It hasn't snowed in Montgomery for six years!! We moved from Wyoming a little over a year ago, so snow has lost its novelty for us, but folks down here are loving the snow. They are not , however, loving the streets in the snow. Apparently, the quarter inch of snow that accumulated for less than half an hour caused the city of Montgomery to panic. No one was out on the road, and some businesses were closed because of the "inclement" weather. Luckily, the snow did not last long, and the cogs of commerce began to turn again, narrowly missing the need to declare a national emergency.... whew!

Abby didn't quite know what to think about it, but she sure looked cute!

Guitar Hero

It all started over Christmastime at my Aunt Lisa's house. My cousin, Austin, had just gotten "Guitar Hero" from Santa, so Dan decided to play it with him, you know, for Austin, to spend time with him.... yeah.

Two weeks later....
"Do you mind if I go buy Guitar Hero? My brother and his family are coming over... it would be something we can all do together...." -Dan

(eyeroll from me) "We have board games we can play, do we really need Guitar Hero? Especially since there are video games we've had for years that you've played ONCE?" -Becca

"Well, you know, for family time....." -Dan

"Well, I trust your judgement, and if you think we need it, then it is ok with me." -Becca
That line used to ALWAYS work when I really didn't want him to buy whatever it was, but alas, those days are behind us now, because we now own Guitar Hero.

..... and it is so much FUN! I thought I would be watching everyone else play, bored, and constantly suggesting doing something else, but I am up there rockin', too! I'm ashamed to admit it, but yes, Guitar Hero is fun.

Even our neice, Isabella, had fun playing guitar like her Daddy and Uncle Daniel.

Big People Food!

It is a little sad that Abby is ready for 'real' food... that must mean that someday she'll walk and talk, and grow up! Yikes.... am I allowed to marvel at how fast she's growing at only six months? Oh, well.

We are trying sweet potatoes, and she's not sure what to think...

Real food is so messy, too.... I started out cleaning her off after every bite, but, seriously, it was an exercise in futility. Now, I usually just strip her down before she eats, especially since she likes to practice talking with food in her mouth!

Christmas 2007

This is Abby with her great-grandmother on Christmas Eve. We traveled to Texas for the holidays with my family after having an early Christmas celebration with Dan's family. Abby was great in the car on the way there (10 hours!)... we drove through the night, so Mommy and Daddy had to switch driving duties frequently, but I HIGHLY recommend it for those with kiddos.

This was a money shot taken by Aunt Kenley.

Abby and Grandma "Roddy".....it takes so little to entertain us......

Laughing and Crying

I know, I know.... I have been such a slacker, but hopefully, these videos will make up for my neglect. The first is Abby crying (one of her milder episodes), and we felt we needed to document at least once the crying that was such a large part of her first few months.

She couldn't get enough of peek-a-boo...
